Business Traveller Update spoke to Gold Innovation Award Winner Maxwell Lucus about Travel Angel and why corporations are using their e-learning courses… In the current global marketplace, corporate travel requirements have become increasingly diverse and demanding on travellers, including the environments they operate in, making Corporate Responsibility/Duty of Care towards Employees essential.
Business Traveller Update:
1) What is Travel Angel?
Travel Angel is a web based traveller safety e-learning course designed to reduce exposure to risk through education and awareness training. The course is 45 minutes in length and consists of seven modules with an evaluation phase after each and down-loadable certificate of overall performance that allows for compliance checks to be conducted by the employer.
2) Why is it different?
Travel Angel addresses the risks for the business traveller with a pedagogic approach to instruction and testing, which is the most effective type of learning (read, see, hear, act), providing consistent training to all users. It is also scenario-based using a combination of music, images and filmed footage that simulates the environment in each module.
3) Tell use a little more what are the top benefits?
Providing access to Travel Angel allows our clients to demonstrate organisational duty of care worldwide whilst also reducing organisational and traveller risk. The administration function also provides a verifiable traveller audit trail and internal benchmarking. The seven modules can be taken individually or together – full programme takes around 45 minutes to complete and once dual branded it is easily implemented to enhance/support existing policies or products. Global accessibility means the course can be accessed at work, home or travelling.
4) Which customers use Travel Angel and what do they find really useful about the courses.
We have a diverse range of clients PwC, Avon, Chartis and Diageo to name a few.
One of our longest standing customers is Save the Children. Mike Penrose their Director of Emergency Programmes chose us because he found that our traveller safety eLearning course provided a “rare combination of an engaging and accessible course that has real life relevance, ” where as Mark Hughes – BT Security Managing Director, said “This new course is very helpful in ensuring that everyone has the right knowledge and can make the right decisions – a good step forward in containing such risks as may arise while away from home”.
With client feedback we have adapted to the risks faced by both the organisation and the travellers, which has resulted in the most effective and thorough E-Learning experience for International business travellers today.
5) What next for Travel Angel?
March 1 2011 brought more great news for Maxwell Lucas, having been awarded a ‘Highly Commended Organisation’ in the Management Today’s Business Heroes Awards. Through continued exposure and continuous R&D, Travel Angel is set to stay at the forefront in traveller safety e-learning courses. With the traveller in mind, it is already globally accessible but we want to make this even easier by allowing access via apps to handheld devices such as Blackberry, IPhone and other smartphones/PDA’s.
