On Friday 27th January 2012 at least 12 people have been killed in Russia's Caucasus region following clashes between Russian security forces and militants.
At least five militants and four troops were killed in a gun battle that occurred in the area of Dagestan and in the village of Ekazhevo, security forces opened fire and killed a further three militants who had locked themselves inside of a private home.
